We begin to publish creative and build our monthly catalogs, we take rolling submissions. There is no deadline unless specified on this page. If you have any questions about the guidelines or want clarification please email us at info@writtenarticles.org.

Are there any topics or restrictions for submissions?

No. There are no specific topics that we want you to cover. We accept all work on various topics, ideas, and ideologies.

What are the page length requirements?

Poetry: 3 pages/poem and up to 3 poems can be submitted.

Prose: 4-5 pages max

Essays: 5 pages max

Fiction: If an excerpt from a larger work, no longer than 15 pages.

For Flash Fiction or Short Stories: No longer than 15 pages, more than one story can be submitted.

How Long is the wait time for approval for publishing?

Please allow 48 hours for a confirmation. Once received, please allow 5-7 days for an approval response.

Where do I submit?

Once you have gathered your submission work, please email us at info@serenacastillo.org.

Add the following to your email:

1. Subject: Creative Submission - first and last name. 

2, ATTN: Review Team 

(Do not add any other information).

Is there a fee to submit work?

There is a reading/viewing fee of $10/submission.

For online photography residency only

Are you looking for a place to post your work and gain exposure? Look no further. 

What are the requirements: 

For initial consideration, please have a 15-20 photo portfolio and email us at Info@serenacastillo.org. After 72 hours, you will receive confirmation of acceptance or denial. Once accepted, the following will be required of you:

  1. Submit portfolios every 3 months with 15-20 photos (these initial photos will count at your first submission).

  2. About portfolio page

  3. About the photographer page 

  4. Annual fee of $25 

  • If you are unable to provide a portfolio in due time for any reason, you can be assigned to an alternative project that a photographer might be of need. 

For visual submissions

If you want to submit visuals such as short films, commercials, clips, etc.

What are the requirements: 

For initial consideration, please email us at Info@serenacastillo.org. After 72 hours, you will receive confirmation of acceptance or denial. Once accepted, the following will be required of you:

  1. Submission fee of $30

Issue #1 Theme: Growth and New Beginnings

What are the length requirements?

Poetry: 3 pages/poem and up to 3 poems can be submitted.

Prose: 3 pages max

Essays: 3 pages max

For Flash Fiction or Short Stories: No longer than 5 pages, more than one story can be submitted.

Visuals: (no moving images or pieces - if any, please see the guidelines for online submissions above)

Photography: 15 images max (10 final photos will be selected)

Graphics, Comics, Art Work: 3 large or 5 small (this depends on what you are submitting)

How Long is the wait time for approval for publishing?

Submissions are open beginning November 1, 2024, until April 1, 2025. You will receive approval or denial emails from 14 to 30 days after submission.

1. Subject: Visual or Written Submission - Print Issue #1

2, Body: First and Last name, Instagram handle, email/phone number, bio, and summary of the project.

(Do not add any other information).

Is there a fee to submit work?

There is no reading fee for the print issue.
